Dates set for Magavalanche 2019 in Alpe d'Huez
The longest & craziest downhill mountain bike race in the world
Alpe d’Huez is a mecca for mountain bikers and the UCC Mégavalanche is now one of the many mountain biking events of the Grandes Rousses summer season, as well as being the longest downhill race in the world.
The dates have been set for Megavalanche 2019, with the event returning to resort from July 8th to 14th for its 26th instalment. For almost a week, an estimated 1700 riders will thrash it out through the tens of thousands of metres of negative elevation on the slopes of the Grandes Rousses mountain range between the Sarenne glacier, down to the village of Allemont in the valley.
This seven day mountain biking event draws people in from all over the world to compete in a series of fast and furious downhill races. Open to amateurs and professionals, there are a number of competitions taking place over the week. From speed trials to enduro races, to a dedicated women's event, there is something for everyone.
