Ophelie David in running for top honour

Local ski-cross racer Ophelie David is among the nominees for the prestigious Le Dauphine sportsperson of the year award for 2015. It comes in the year when she won silver medal at the World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria.

The 39 year old former world number one, married mum of one, who lives in Alpe d’Huez is a 4 times X-Games winner (2007, 08, 09 and 10) and was also World Champion in 2011.

She has represented France in ski cross the last two winter Olympic Games (Vancouver and Sochi).

The awards are a prestigious annual sporting award given by one of France's leading regional newspapers, Le Dauphine.

Ophelie finds herself up against stiff competition from top athletes from the worlds of cycling, rugby and swimming and is the only female nominee.

She is a keen mountain biker who regularly hits the trails in the summer time being an Alpe d’Huez native and in 2008 she won the super-competitive and prestigious Megavalanche race in resort.
